JUNK GOLD™ is a sustainable clothing and accessories brand that transforms “junk” into gold. We create one-of-a-kind pieces out of vintage button-downs and scrap fabric that would otherwise go to landfills.

Founded in 2020, JUNK GOLD™ is dedicated to changing the landscape of the fashion and textile industry by putting brand values first and promoting "conscious consumerism". JUNK GOLD™ is focused on building an honest relationship with our customers through our commitment to sustainable, ethical, and transparent production. Each JUNK GOLD™ piece has a story, and we are excited to make our customers a part of It.

Our Story

It all started with a button-down...

      In an effort to be more sustainable while pursuing her fashion design degree, founder Maddy Clements often used thrifted clothing as fabric for her designs. Second-hand button-down shirts became not only her primary source of fabric but also an integral part of her identity as a designer.

    JUNK GOLD™ was created to counteract the detrimental effects of fast fashion. In a single year in the U.S., an estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste - equivalent to 85% of all textiles - ends up in a landfill. Rather than adding to the problem, JUNK GOLD™ creatively redesigns used clothing into something new and inspired.

    Our one-of-a-kind pieces are made from entirely upcycled materials - mainly vintage button-downs and scrap fabric that would otherwise be sent to a landfill. Our unique bags and accessories are inspired by classic elements of the button-down - such as collars, cuffs, and plackets.

    We want to rebuild the relationship between customer and product by showing the story behind each JUNK GOLD™ piece. Our customers don't have to choose between what's good for the planet and what inspires them.
